Quest held centre stage at the Bonnaroo Music Festival this weekend, assembling a crack cast of musicians to roll through tunes by the likes of Funkadelic, Curtis Mayfield, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zepplin.
Long time allies like James Poyser, Kirk Douglas and Frankie Knuckles were in on the act, adding their funky talents to the mix.
But the man that everyone was talking about was the one and only D'Angelo (pictured), with the reclusive R&B-ster (up until recently at least) hitting the stage for his first U.S. performance in 12 long years.
Long story short: the Funk It crew had someone on the inside, the gig was taped, and now you can take home a slice of history.
Over to Funk It to enlighten you: "Thanks to one of my close friends, we have an excellent audio recording of D’Angelo‘s first U.S. performance in 12 years!
"This morning at 12:15am central time, Questlove hosted the Bonnaroo Music Festival Superjam and the rest is history. Finally, the Soulquarians reunited after 12 years!"
