Why? Apparently it was his calling to reinvent himself as a reggae artist... and reggae seems to be down with lions. Oh, and something about wanting to make music that his "kids and grandparents can listen to."
Nothing wrong with a bit of reggae or reinvention of course, but I'm not 100% sure that Snoop will be busting out his air horn and psuedo-patois around the dinner table this Christmas.
With Major Lazer at the helm of Snoop's latest musical diversionthough, I'll be watching with interest to see what the D.O.Double G - whoops, I mean the L.I.O.N - can conjure up from his reggaefied inner soul.
You can make your own mind up as to how successful Snoop's latest reincarnation is, because 'Here Comes The King', the second single from SL's upcoming LP (which is entitled - you guessed it - Reincarnated) has just dropped.
Angela Hunte is on the vocal help out, while production comes from Ariel Rechtshaid, Major Lazer, and 6Blocc.
My thoughts? Not sold, but it isn't so awful as to make me totally switch off from new Snoop. Not yet, anyway.
